Now this looks interesting…

As you may remember, the first Medieval: Total War is one of the “Games of my Life”, and, IMO, one of the best strategy games of all time. A second version of it (it’s Creative Assembly’s first sequel ever) should be really amazing.
Here is the MTW2 official page, with lots of great screenshots. Unfortunately, they still insist on showing only battle images, and I’m even more interested in the campaign - which sounds amazing, from the description, but I’d like to see some of it. It’s probably not coded yet, I guess.
The bad news: it should be even more demanding than Rome: Total War, which my puny PC already can’t handle decently. I really must get around to getting rich.

What are the system requirements for Medieval 2: Total War?
Medieval total war 2 wow i loved all the ofer total war. rome ruled i was on that game non stop for about 6
months and now i still go on for a quick battle. but i have look at medieval 2 and it looks a lot better. the best
game ever if it better than rome it must be!
Its requirement is
3.2 Ghz Ht
1 Gb ram
7800 Gt 256 mb ( must) pci ex
and a keyboard and a mouse , monitor and speakers
does it only work on xp or can it also work on melenium ovawise ill buy anova comp. jus 2 play dat game
what are the requirements for it to work well!! so it looks more realistick
Jager
Those specs are BS
According to various official reports I have read on M2TW the campaign will span a larger area than previous games with more of scandanavia, Britain and Russia. Also the option to colonise the American continent will become available after its discover within the campaign. In other words when columbus etc discovers it you can go and fight aztecs. If you go to http://www.totalwar.com/ and look at their screenshots section for M2TW you will see that it has been updated with 1 sceenshot.
Enjoy
Yeah Jager man, where did u pull those specs from? Your arse? Admitadly to plan the game on a decent settings your probably not far off, but there is no way Sega, on there first total war outing are going to make a game that only the top tier of game users can run… My guess would be a minimun specs would be a 6 series card, 6600 or above, around 2 = 2.5 ghz processor and a 1gb of ram, maybe 512 if ur really lucky, but I doubt it. lol
Can it run on an OSX? Tell me its possible
the system requirements for MTW 2 would be around-
CPU - Intel pentium 4 1.5ghz to 2ghz or AMD equivalent (3.0ghz or AMD xp 3000+ recommended)
Ram - 512mb minimum (1gig recommended)
Video - 128mb with pixel shader 2 aswell and vertex shaders (X850 256mb or 6800GTX 256mb recommended) DirectX 9
HDD - Range from 4gb to 10gb of hard drive space aswell as swap files
Sound - at least a 16bit audio card or sound card (creative EAX4 recommended)
Thats about it.
Thax Nightwolf, if the specs are cloes to what you write, Im happy. leter dudes
You suck Jager, your just showing off your own specs you poof!
Can you play it with an ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128 mb sec graphics card?
weird? those are the same as rome’s specs :O
Rome’s specs are fare below for your information :
Intel pentium III or Athlon 1 ghz
256 mb ram
64 mb videocard
2.9 gb free hard disk space
hmm …i think pentium 3 866 mghz , 256mb ram blazing with a 16mb graphic tnt 2 should be able to cater the minimum requirement
i have rome total war with a pentium 4 do u think it will work?
rome works fine so do u think it will work ok
Just Relax guys about the specs for MTW2, just wait till it comes out and then you’ll find out.
nightwolf no offense but ur just saying that cause u have a computer that can install 1 million games and still be fast u got it all souped up i bet and u just know its going to work with your extreme graphics harddrive and ur 99999999999999999999999999 mb space like i said no offense but i just have an ordinary xp pentium 4 rome works i was just wonderin if it worked if u had rome and rome worked and an xp and a pentium 4 i know ur not totally sure but if u have any idea let me know thanx im not tryin to be a fag im just saying
nightwolf no offense but ur just saying that cause u have a computer that can install 1 million games and still be fast u got it all souped up i bet and u just know its going to work with your extreme graphics harddrive and ur 99999999999999999999999999 mb space like i said no offense but i just have an ordinary xp pentium 4 rome works i was just wonderin if it worked if u had rome and rome worked and an xp and a pentium 4 i know ur not totally sure but if u have any idea let me know thanx im not tryin to be a fag im just saying.
according to the FAQ they had with actual developers of the game…the minimum specs for this game are lower than most newer games out today so i don’t see why any of you can’t run it….bottomline if you can run rome total war on anything but the lowest settings you can run this one at least on lowest settings
Actually Phil man, I have a low end computer,
AMD athlon XP 2100+ 1.77 GHZ
512MB DDR400 Ram
Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 128MB
80 GB HDD
Thats about it, its just a basic computer now.
And yes Rome total War works fine Phil, most of the time, I have had glitches and shit but fixed it with patches, I would be surprised if Medieval Total War II worked on my computer.
ur kool nightwolf sry if i made u mad thanx for letting me know hatter
No worries Phil man, if you need anymore help, just ask man, later
someone knows how to download the demo? If rome total war works well will medieval 2 work well?
what are exactly the system requirements of medieval 2?
Depends Chris on your PC specs, what are they and I’ll tell you if you have a good chance of playing the game, later
oh hey Chris are you on right now
Ok guys for a start a processors Ghz Rating doesent mean how fast it is, Instructions per cycle is very important. Id say it will require for decent settings:
AMD 64 3000+ (1.8ghz) or P4 equivalent Intel Pentium 4 531 (3Ghz)
1024mb Ram
X800 too an X1800XT for max settings
random i think itll work
if u can play rome and ur comp. works for it and u have a pentium 4 medieval may be harder to install for me ( by the way rome didn’t work for the first 10 times i installed it) u just have to be patient and im sure it will work
nightwolf do u know some of the specs and isnt it coming out in november
Phil, yeah it should be coming out in november sometime hopefully and the specs for the game im not 100% sure but look at wat I right earlier on before, im guessing the specs would be around there somewhere, randoms looks pretty close too, thats all I can say man, later!
do u have rome nightwolf? not the expansions or anything just rome? if so these are all the playable factions for campaign that i am able to play as ( let me know if u can play as more factions besides these) 3 roman factions carthage, greek cities, seleucid empire, parthians, gaul, britannia, germany, egypt. let me know if u can play as any other factions and how to unlock them. peace
Hey phil, you can go to gamefaqs.com and get all the info/codes to play as other factions in the campaign, even SPQR. But beware that it can act screwy, especially if you play as ROME. Download and install all patches. ALSO: keep an original copy of any files you change, or else it will be a bitch to fix once you screw it up (and you will).
ATI RADEON 8500 USERS: I was having terrible problems with the machine cutting out, and thought it was overheating. I finally updated the driver by going to device drivers in XP (which updated automatically) and all the problems went away. I wish I thought about that 12 months ago!:(
Any ideas on laptop specs, I know a desktop would be preferable but just got a Dell laptop with a 2GHz duo core processor, 2G RAM and a ATI Radeon X1400 (256MB) graphics card?
does and1 have any pictures of the campaign
Mike D: Don’t hold me to it, but I’m sure your video card should be handle ROME at if it is 256MB (sounds a little high for me, but just double check). Just BE SURE TO go to device driver — ATI video driver— and let windows search for an update…. or you might have problems…. Also, don’t get upset if it takes a few install tries to work or if it cuts out on you after a few hours of gameplay… it just happens, no big deal. Just save your game more often as you play. Good luck, and PS. look for it on EBAY, you can save a fortune, and if it doesn’t work, try to sell it back
Thanks Mad Mike, I’m fairly certain it will run Rome alright as my sister’s much lower spec laptop runs it reasonably comfortably, was just checking if it would run Medieval 2? I know the set specs aren’t out yet but you seem to have an idea of the desktop specs so you might have an idea if my laptop specs above would run it.
Thanks!
who do u think will be ur fav faction in med. 2 mine is prob. egypt g2g
i want to play the game with normal to high settings but will i be able to do so with
AMD 2200+ 1.8ghz
512 mb DDR RAM
ATI radeon x1600 pro 512 mb?
(i upgraded the video card :S it used to be 128 mb geforce fx 5200..
((and when will the demo be out?)
goodspeed i meant i wanted to play with the country of egypt in medieval 2. who do u guys want to play as?
Scotland!
Northern England or the Holy Roman Empire
dnaltocS
lol i know i wasnt responding at ur question :S
o sry
i have a prob with the orginal medieval. when i first got it it worked perfectly for 2 years. now i can play everything it works fine except the campagin. i pick my faction and i press start campaign it loads as usual and then goes back to the in game menu, i dont understand. the same thing happened to my friend before it happened to me. i let my friend borrow my medieval cause his didnt work and mine did and i thought this wolud make it work again. so he installed it in his and it still didnt work so he gave it back to me and i tryed to play it on my comp. and now i cant play campaign if u have any idea how to fix it let me know.
hey guys, I have bought a new laptop and was wondering if it wil run medieval II at highest settings. This are my specs:
2ghz dual core
1 gig 667mhz memory
geforce 7900GTX
thanks for the comments.
will a radeon xpress 200 work with it
Koetor, thats a good laptop you got there, especially the dual core processor and the video card it should work well, but im guessing maybe an extra gig of ram would help alot especially for loading times and amount of units you can have in the game, after that i think you should be albe to run the game in full detail so there ya go man.
thanks nightwolf I thought so. I was planning to put an extra gig of ram in it. But I also play at high resolution 1920×1200 will the same specs still be sufficiant then?
I mean will the 1 gig ram be sufficiant for this resolution too, or should I definately go for the 2 gig then?
I got a Radean X600 256 MB Hyper Memory, and thats the only thing I’m worried about. i mean, 2.79 GHz and 1 gb of ram should be fine i think, but im not familiar with the video cards, so if somebody could let me know and tell me if it will most likely be sufficient or not, that would be awesome, thanks.
No worries koeter, about the extra gig, if your gonna play it at that resolution i would get another gig of ram, but higher resolution mainly concentrates on your video card power and memory aswell but your video card should be good enough for that but you should get the extra gig of ram man, later
Mark man, you video card should be able to do the job at low to medium settings im guessing, and do you know what type of processor you have
My processor says intel pentium d
thanks
thanks again nightwolf I will put a gig of ram in my lappie, just to be sure;)
ciao
No worries Koeter happy upgrading, and Mark you have a descent processor man, its dual cored so thats good to here but if you wanna play this game at higher graphic detail, I suggest upgrading your video card if you’ve got the money ok man, and f you wanna know a good list of video cards just ask me ok, later.
yea, i dont have alot of money to spend, but if you got a few ideas that would be awsome. im not looking for top of the line cards, but something that i good enough so that i dont have to worry about the games i buy. thanks alot
Wats up, ok Mark your video card is still decent so dont worry but if you’ve got the money you could get the 256MB X800GT ATI video card and thats a pretty good video card too, but of course MONEY, it cost around $185 if you’ve got that mate, if you dont, dont worry about it dude, your computer should be good enough anyways man, oh yeah thats aussie dollars too, later.
Oh yeah i forgot to tell you if your motherboard works well with nvidia geforce cards, you should go buy one of them, his a list for ya ok mate.
-256MB 7300GS is decent it ranges to 81 to 93 dollars depends wat brand you get, usually the more money the better the brand.
-256MB 7300GT this one is a bit more better in performance and it ranges to 115 to 132 dollars depends wat brand you get.
-256MB 7600GS this ones better of course and price range is to 146 to 163 dollars of course more money better brand.
-512MB 7600GS this one is the same as the one above just more memory really, price is 190 dollars, only one brand of this one.
well thats about it mate so there ya go plus there were way more cards but too dear so i didnt bother to list them, happy buying later.
YOU BASTARDS, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kanamara_Festival
nightwolf will a pentium 4 with idk at least 256 mb work.? also how do u find ur computer specs like the gig and stuff?
im wondering so i can post it so u can tell me if it meets ur estimation of requirements
ok Phil man, the most easy way to do it is right click on My Computer and go down to the bottom and click Properties, it should display your operation system like windows Xp and etc, aswell as your processor and physical ram too. If you wanna check your video card just right click the desktop and click on properties, then click the settings tab, it should display it there, if you wanna see your video card memory just click on advanced settings on the same window and then click the Adaptor tab ok mate, later.
PS, Phil I dount it would work with 256MB of ram, im guessing at least 512MB minimum and 1gig recomended.
A, who you calling bastard you cockhead
can it run on windows XP?
Wow, I stumbled on this little chat session somehow and well, if it weren’t for Nightwolf, It’d be worthless. Thanks man.
I’ll say defanetly it will run on windows XP and windows Vista for this generation and next generation games on computers, hopefully they wont do it like Halo 2 for PC, it requires the new Windows Vista to run the game, thats just bullshit and a scam from microsoft to get ppl buying the new windows just to get halo 2 for PC, but anyways I think it will, later.
thanks Nate, I have no idea what i done for you but your welcome, later mate!
Hey guys, need a little hint about running Medieval 2 on my laptop. Those are the specs:
HP Pavilion 8000 series
- P IV 3,00 Ghz
- 2,00 GB ram
- 100 GB HDD
- Ati x600 256 mb
I know cpu and ram are up enough to run the game, but i’m worried about my crappy video card. I just use my laptop to work with Autocad, matlab and stuff like that, so i have no clue if it’s gonna be able to run 3D games as Medieval 2. RTW runs fluently though. Let me now. Cya
Andy yeah its all good man except for your video card, if you have the money upgrade it man ok, later
PS good laptop you got too man, later
Nightwolf thanx 4 replying; i still got an inquiry than: is it possible shifting a laptop’s video card? I thought a notebook’s hardware is not upgradable, except for the ram (which i actually upgraded from 512 mb to 2 gb), since a different component, with higher operating temperatures, might alter the original heat flux thus threaten the whole notebook’s stability. Anyway, may you please suggest some notebook video card worth the price for 3Dgames purposes?
Hi, i have the following:-
AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
NVidia GeForce 7800 GS 256mb
2 GB Ram
59.9GB of free space on Hard drive
would this be okay to meet medium to high end specs on Medieval total war 2
Thanks for any Help.
No worries Andy, you should be able to upgrade your video card even though its a laptop, note book but I dont know laptops and notebooks as much compared to desktop Pc so I suggest to ring up the company of your PC manufacter for eg. HP, Asus, Dell and etc, if you could be bothered or better yet just give me the name of your notebook and I’ll look it up for you and found out k, later man
PS oh yeah if your gonna do all that upgrading, like you said about the heat and all that, try to keep it in a cool place if ya can.
Jas, great PC you got there and of course you would be able to play it in medium detail even high i reckon so you should have no problem, later
thanks nightwolf here are my copm. specs. intel pentium 4 processor 3 gig
chip type: intel(R) 82845G graphics cotroller
DAC type: internal
memory size 64mb
adapter string: INTEL(R) 82845G /GL/GE/PE/GV cotroller
bios info.: intel vidoe bios
256 MB of ram
pretty low specs huh nightwolf. anyway rome works so medieval 2 will work i hope if not whatever
the word on the street is that if your pc can play rome total war, than
it should work for your pc. if you dumb down the graphics
thanks for the info Nightwolf, is there an exact release date for medieval 2 total war in
England, and have the system specs - preferably recommended requirements - been
released yet as were not far from November. P.S. I cannot wait for medieval 2,
Rome and barbarian are good - this one looks like i could be awake all night!
i have a velocitymicro laptop that was great when i bought it . . . 3 years ago. anyone recomment affordable laptop; doesn’t need to be highest end but play medieval 2 with medium settings.
thankx all!
NIghtwolf i couldn’t gather informations about videocards for my laptop browsing the net. Could you please suggest any to me?

( SNIPERKING SEE LAST SENTENCE )
harry monk uhhhhh or nightwolf like that one person said if rome works do u think med. 2 will work on very low graphics? sniperking keep ur screen resolution on low and install the minimum requirments and i almost can guarantee it will work.
harry monk, such a 1024mb 9800GS video card doesnt even exist, and the other requirements are shit too…
what was the fun in saying u work at SEGA?

Thanx!
i think my specs suck!

Medival 2 total war demo will be in the next issue of pc gamer on october 26
deadboymies, does rome work fine on your computer running on high?
Phil, do you run Rome on high resolution with high graphics, and does it still run smooth?…I was just wondering cuz I got that same graphics card as you do with a 2.53 Ghz and I have to run mine with pretty low settings for it to run pretty smooth, so I was just wondering how yours runs.
I want the fucking Medieval II demo to be released. I’m so fucking eager to play medieval massacres on my bloody notebook
deadboymies, does rome work fine on your computer running on high?
yeh it does, sometimes a little bit sloppy when im running it on full graphics etc.
Andy calm down its just a game i want it too
i agree with noname chill
lol dont take him seriously
so what you all going to start as faction wise?
spanish… always play them in mtw :)(online battles i mean then)
im gonna play as the Byzantine Empire
I’m gonna play the turks cos i’m really looking forward to shoot the Basilic cannon, 8 meters long, one shot every 7 hours, olive oil cooled. And the germans too, their infantry is just scary.
Nightwolf where have u gone
yea like the massive one that destroyed the walls of constantinopal
Marcus2 yea when i first got the game the battles were real slow so i kept it on low then my comp. has adapted to the game so i can put it on high settings and it works fairly good. Write me back
No kidding btw, my notebook is thirsty of blood, and i’m going nuts in the meanwhile. I’m so psyched about this game, can’t wait any longer. I’m staring at the totalwar homepage 24/7. My eyes bleed sometimes. It’s been a month now. Even now, while i’m typing, i got the TW window in the bottom left corner, waiting for the demo to be released. That’s basically how i’ve been spending my days and nights lately. Neay uh? I know, i rock. My pudding lifetime supply next to the pc keeps my vital functions running. A huge porn stock keeps me sane.
i never got the 1st medieval total war
i never got the 1st medieval total war
i only have rome which i have 2 run on lowest settings
omfg… get medieval total war its the fucking best game ever
i never got the chess style campign map

combat game in mtw is good by the way in mtw2 what religion you think the aztecs will be
mtw2 is due to be realised in november but play.com say it will be realised on 27/10/2006
my computer meets all requirments execpt, i have Nvidia Ge Force 4 MX,
will this work?
Phil, yeah well thats how mine was to, so im gonna probably get a new graphics card, what kind do you think would be good?? or should I just wait till the specs come out.
deadboymies, I think if you running your games as high as it can go and the campaign map is smooth than I think that you should be fine and you should just get the game and if it runs slow than just upgrade however you have to.
Hi Guys, sorry I havent been around seems like people need some help
i cant find the 1st MTW any more
u can go 2 http://www.totalwar.com for info on the game
Check Ebay Marz99, it should be there man, later
PS, Simora, I doubt it would work with that geforce4 MX, because the game will require pixel and vertex shaders, basically i mean you should upgrade if you can, if ya need any help on video cards, just ask, laters
nightwolf i have:
AMD athlon XP 2200+, MMX, 3DNow, 1.7Ghz
1279mb PC3200 DDR RAM

will i be able to run the game at at least medium settings?
Man im gonna be the italians, and reak some havoc
i cant w8 2 get the game but i think i have 2 w8 around 2 more months bcuz i dont have enough money 2 upgrade my pc 2 the minimum requirements
Guys 1 question do u think it will be EXACTLY the same as the 1st game(the units, factions, etc.) or they will add new stuff (the units, factions, etc.)? P.S thanx Nightwolf!
Goodspeed, your comp should be fine and your CPU should do the job and you got enough ram to run aswell and ecent video card aswell man, later
PS No worries Marz99
Actually Phil man, I have a low end computer,

Kalel man, yeah i know the FX5200 is a shit card, if you got anymore money upgrade fast man if ya wat, and to solve your rome total war problems, tell me wat patch you have for the game aswell as your video card driver forceware version, laters
i wonder wat its expansion packs will be (vikings maybe? like in the 1st one)wat do u guys think?
Hi, i have the following:-
AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
NVidia GeForce 7800 GS 256mb
2 GB Ram
59.9GB of free space on Hard drive
i have the latest drivers and luckily RTW plays well
but some games play then jump back out onto the desktop
and when i replay them they won’t start at all! not until
i restart the whole PC, any ideas? thanks.
the game in question is Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
I think a good expansion pack would be to expand the map like into asia or more of america
Jas there’s nothing wrong with ur hardware lol v nice… have u tried to reinstall the game or format ur C: and rebuild it?
such are mostly software problems…
(and why would u want to play such a shit game ;))
Kalel man, yeah i know the FX5200 is a shit card, if you got anymore money upgrade fast man if ya wat, and to solve your rome total war problems, tell me wat patch you have for the game aswell as your video card driver forceware version, laters
i have 1.5 patch and forceware version 84.21 i updated today it worked but still aint as fast i wanted thanks for the help kno any apg card thats not super expensive that i can play oblivion 4 on u kno highest settings the x800xt from radeon i was looking at but it was around expensive 300
Nightwolf, Do you know anything about the Intel 82845G graphics card cuz thats what phil and I both have…Is it any good? does it have shaders cuz I cant figure out if it does?
No worries Kalel, yeah about forceware drivers, it depends sometimes, some make games go faster and some you cant even tell but they are handy, anyways about a new AGP video card that one you mensioned is a good one from ATI but yeah it can be expensive, go check ebay man cause i saw the X800GTO platnium edition just under 200 bucks if you got that, but also look for the 6 and 7 series geforce cards cause even the cheap ones can perform well sometimes, but dont get anything below the 6600 geforce card, they suck balls hahahahahaha, but yeah anyways there you go, if ya need anymore help just ask its all cool, laters
Watups Marcus & Phil, about the video card you got, i dont want to hurt your feelings but its SHIT, lol its an intergrated video card. (built into the motherboard) I would reccomend you to upgrade your video card fast if you want to play this game plus i need to know if you at least have a AGP 8 times slot, cause if you do and you got money aswell, you should upgrade fast, if ya need help on anything just ask, laters
Hey guys wat video card is nice BUT the price is not 2 high?
I gots the followin:
Pentium 4 HT 3.2 GHz
Radeon X300 series
1 gb RAM
Sound card is kinda crappy, but am upgradin next month
I got it over a year ago and can play Rome without any problems. Read some of the posts tho and u guys are worryin bout if M2:TW will work on a higher spec PC.
Do i stand a chance or is it best lookin at new PC?
No worries Kalel, yeah about forceware drivers, it depends sometimes, some make games go faster and some you cant even tell but they are handy, anyways about a new AGP video card that one you mensioned is a good one from ATI but yeah it can be expensive, go check ebay man cause i saw the X800GTO platnium edition just under 200 bucks if you got that, but also look for the 6 and 7 series geforce cards cause even the cheap ones can perform well sometimes, but dont get anything below the 6600 geforce card, they suck balls hahahahahaha, but yeah anyways there you go, if ya need anymore help just ask its all cool, laters
ll but the 6 anmd 7 series are expensive as hell lmao im thinking og changing mobo never liked intel lol they take the core duo extreme will hold them in the markert for long amd bought ati so lol now intel and nvidia are done for. i was thinking of maybe changing mobo and getting dualcore xp4800+ not such a bad dualcore nothing like the fx62 but the fx57 also good for single threads but still super expensive thier was a set for 400 bucks and i wanted to get a pci-e card tht way i could get rid of agp i only have 1 agp slot and the rest are pci whcih i dont need so i think i might change mobo hmmm ebay ya i dont trust doest ppl umm i lost 200 bucks thier well lol i guess it was my fault stupidly thinking somone would sell and alienware laptop for 800 bucks man am i gullable
Nightwolf, I actually Just have a 700 series hp (and i got from a friend that graphics card) and i installed it myself. How would I find out what type of AGP I have.
Nightwolf, I just have a 700 series hp and I got that grapichs card from afriend that I had to put in. But how would I find what AGP I have??
Nightshade, scroll to the middle of the forum and look for my video card listings somewhere there, it might help, if it doesnt just ask me for help k, later
Crazee your computer should be fine with this game, but if ya got any spare money, upgrade the video card if you can, if ya need help on video cards just ask, laters
I dont know……….(i think medieval troops!!!)

nice PC
Phil, Im like you ok, i have a shit computer that wont even be able to play this game so im right there with ya, and you can still upgrade your pc if ya want
thanks nightwolf here are my copm. specs.
intel pentium 4 processor 3 gig

bios info.: intel vidoe bios
256 MB of ram
pretty low specs huh nightwolf. anyway rome works so medieval 2 will work i hope if not whatever
that’s a low end computer u got there phil, does rome really work well? i dont think mtw2 will work with that video thing u got, you will really need to buy yourself a new video card and some extra ram, ur processor should be o.k. tho…
o and nightwolf i used to have the same specs as u have
AMD ahtlon XP 1.8Ghz
512mb DDR400 (now 1280mb)
geforce FX 5200 128 mb (now 7600GS)
you have the same computer? (MEDION MS-7027?)
phil ur video card is probably not even compatible with directx 9.0c and/or doesnt have shaders so u really need to upgrade… i think ur motherboard will be pretty old now too so maybe a good video card doesnt even fit in… maybe u should buy a new pc
most Graphic cards should be able to run it on low detail
I have all the system requirments, screen resolution, pentium 4, disc speed, memory, MB, i just don’t have enough RAM ( at least i dont think) will i still be able to play
goodspeed ROME works very well on high settings, so do u think i might have the SLIGHTEST chance i can play MTW2 and yes it is compatiable with directx 9.0, what if i dont have shaders?
would mine work noname would my graphic card do it? yes rome works perfectly fine once again ( over perfect almost no glitches) goodspeed. write me back u 2
My other computer had 256ram and i could run games with 512 perfect
your gpahic card should run low perfect not sure about medium
graphic
Hey, was just flicking through trying to get some advice on how to run M2TW on medium - high, preferably high. Seen this guy Nightwolf seems to be the local guru *cheer* So was just wondering if you could tell me mate, how you think this would hold up?
Before I post, I don’t have this system so I aint boasting or anything, just am thinking of getting my brother to buy it for me = ) anyway here it goes.
INTEL® Core 2 Duo E6700 (2 X 2.66GHz) 1066MHz FSB/4MB L2 Cache
2048 MB CORSAIR DDR2 800MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (2×1GB)
1024MB GEFORCE 7950GX2 (DUAL GPU) PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT
That is all I need to post I believe. If you think it is good but I can get a different part for better compatibility I would love to hear.
Peace out guys
Irish, First of all how much does computer like that cost?, and second of all my advice on that computer is that it should run perfectly on medium, and it should run solid on high too.
hey could some one tell me if this graphic card will be good enough??:ATI RADEON 9550 256MB DDR AGP Graphics Card also it has smartshader 2.0 will that support shader 1??
Hahahahahahaha, The irish one, I think you can run a bloody army with that system mate lol, anyways of course it would run easily on the highest setting including maybe anti aliasing aswell to smooth the textures up so yeah, there ya go mate, laters
PS. Cool specs mate!
Watsup goodspeed, yes we did used have th same PC, not anymore though lol, laters mate
Watsup Marcus2, that video card you got there is a directX 8.0 so you have pixel shader version 2.0 so thats a decent start and its the same as mine aswell, but if you can updrade to a better one man like the x800xt from ATi, its got good specs, price range can vary but check ebay if ya want, so thera ya go man, laters
Hey there folks, or just for the sake, Top o’ tha mornin’ te ye.
@Marcus2
IT costs I think about £1503, it a little home project that I hope to work on, just two problems. I am 17 with no income, secondly I got a starting budget of about £3 which I need for lunch today. = ) But big brother might be tagged into aiding the financial end of things.
@Nightwolf
Yay thanks, that is superb mate, really made my day, I was aiming to run it on full medium without any lag but if I can bump it up to high with pretty much no lag then I believe my “advice” to my big brother might change.
Also new question what would I need to do to that to make sure it ran on high perfectly. I know that is hard question since the game aint even out yet but more properly phrased.
What you think I need to do that could make it able to run m2TW perfectly on high, no lag.
Cheers folks
Happy Posting
You will need a very new and powerfull to play it
you wanna run it on highest settings that comp is the way to do it… though geforce 7800 or 7900 will be enough too i think. the ram is great (nice speed) and the processor won’t have any trouble either. i think u wont have to buy such a superb comp to handle the game, but of course it’s always good to be sure
The irish one, you wouldnt even need a computer that powerful to play it at high settings so dont worry mate, you easily should play it at super fukin duper quality lol, so its all good, later mate
You think the ATI Radeon X1600PRO will be the best ati card to play it
no… there are the X1800 and even 1900… x1600pro is good tho, but u’d rather pick a nvidia geforce 7600GS (which i picked) cs that one’s alot faster
and the same price
I have all the system requirments, screen resolution, pentium 4, disc speed, memory, MB, i just don’t have enough RAM ( at least i dont think) will i still be able to play

dont compare it with rome… medieval 2’s specs are like doubled, and the minimum requirements are the specs to play it fucked up (512mb ram 128mb graphic card).
you only meet half of those… u dont just have too few ram, ur video card also doesnt meet the requirement (that’s about shaders n stuff)… you really need to upgrade your hardware to be able to play this game i think…
rome works perfect? i dunno what u see as perfect but i think “perfect” is highest settings no glitches. and when that’s true u dont have to worry, but that would be a goddam miracle
and with no shaders on ur graph card u cant play it..
could’t you just turn off shader detail
is there actuall a diffrence between ATI and Nvidia
Yeah theres a difference, Nvidia is green and ATi is red, lol
jokes not really man they are both really good companies for graphic cards.
Nightwolf, first of all thanks for all the help, but when I checked out that graphics card online it said that it supported DirectX 9.0…and also are u gonna stick to that card or are you gonna upgrade??
how do i upgrade graphics cards and stuff how much does it cost ( American dollars im american )to upgrade ur graphics card do i insert something or what? goodspeed i aprecciate ur honesty but ive been fucking around with my comp. to make rome work PERFECT. it really is fine. and noname said that he could run games that had 512mb minimum and he only had 256mb and he could still run it. ill take my chances write me back.
No worries Marcus2 its all good, and yeah its supports directX 9.0c but when it says that, its supports the software version, i dont want you to get mixed up but there are 2 different ones, hardware version and software version, first software version is the one intalled on your PC, all computers need it too.
The hardware version is wat the video card supports like shaders and stuff, here is list to help you.
-the All In Wonder Radeon 7500 64MB video card is a directX 7 level card, it has no pixel shaders aswell as vertex shaders, but it has the basic direct 3D and transform and lighting, basically its an old one but was a good TV tuner at the time.
-now to the awesomely shit FX5200 from Nvidia, it is a directX 8 level video card, it has the pixel shader version 2.0 same as vertex shaders plus the other crap i write for the other card and some other crap aswell, but not to get you mixed up just contentrate on the pixel shader versions ok.
-now to the directX 9.0 cards i will list the shitty geforce 6200 card, it comes with the shader model 3.0 aswell as the vertex shaders and plenty of other shit, so you will get the idea and when the directX 10 series cards come out they will come with shader 4.0, so there ya go mate, laters
PS, i might upgrade but i just have to wait and see, later
can u get the ps3 rsx card on the pc
does your computer have a certain slot that can only support just a ATi or Nvidia card?
no need to noname, there are better video cards than that anyways, go with the 7900GTX or 7950GX2 from nvidia, or the x1900XTX aswell as the X1950XTX from ATi, they are superb, but expensive.
But dont get me wrong the PS3 packs some bloody power under the hood lol, laters
goodspeed did u c wut i wrote? whats new guys?
Hey Guys im not so good with graphics settings but can u tell me the meaning of 1 little thing wat is anit-aliasing?
Hey guys wat is the Graphic card for the PS3 and XBOX360?How could they run games SOO well even though we can upgrade our requirements to the max and still some games lag? another question, why do graphic cards, processors, etc. ALWAYS have 2 be upgraded 2 keep up with the games now? (like my pc i cant even run old games anymore!lol my pocket is 2 shallow 2 upgrade my pc im still in school my dad has 2 do it for me but he saves his money for something i dont know im not saying that PC’s suck i think their one of the best consoles!!it can play GTA and Halo while the ps2 can only play GTA i was just bothered by the facts of wat i said earlier)P.S.The XBOX 360 rocks!!!(and the PC of course!):)
hmm any word on what agp card i should get
Kalel, if you got the money, go for the X800GTO from ati, its a good video card, check ebay for any of them k, later
J_dawg watsup man, if i were you go with the AMD X2, the pentium 4 arent worth it anymore, especially their dual core processors, they lack performance and eat up your power, and are often known for over heating, not saying their shit actualy i am lol ,but go with the AMD X2 5000+, that processor will kick some ARSE! later dudes
Marz99 watsup, anti aliasing is a video configuration that it sharpens the the resolution of all games, there are different settings aswell, like to might see 2 times, or 4 times, 8 times and even 16 times, thats the max and basically it gets rid of jagded edges and it smooths the picture quality, doing this configuration though mainly contentrates on your video vard, ram and cpu arent really infected but you must have a decent video card to do this, so there ya go mate, later
Marz99, the custom made graphics for the Xbox 360 is from ATi, the GPU is running at 500MHZ and the memory is GDDR3 is which good, it runs at 700MHZ and it has 10MB embeded into it aswell as 512MB spare, very good custom made graphics cards especially for a console.
The PS3, well lets see it packs power, the RSX from Nvidia is a scary piece of hardware i must say, its GPU runs at 550MHZ and has 256MB of GDDR3 memory aswell the Cell processor helps it run too for good performance, now you might think that the Xbox 360 is better cause it hasmore memory but nope! sorry, you must look at the reall specs to see wat it is really made out of, check the sony sites if ya want man k, later
Watsup Noname, about the video card thing you mentioned for nvidia and ATi, most of the time no, but you might see motherboards that have names like all in wonder GV-67 from gigabyte or crossfire, asus or even foxconn they are mainly for ATi cards, they might run with nvidia but expect errors and shit, and there are the popular motherboards that might say nforce 4 or nforce 5, they are very good ones and very popular aswell, they are with the nvidia side and they kick arse when you shove a geforce card in the slot, but these ones are new so it depends on what motherboard you got but too be honest it doesnt really matter, just something handy for you to know k, later
Oh yeah Marz99, the thing about consoles and PC’s is that consoles are made for gaming and they have been formated to be played on that certain console. PC’s play games to the max settings, thats why you have video options to configure them and it depends on your hardware aswell, but when it comes to consoles they are configured by the game maker or company to be played at a good performance and good graphical quality but not full detail for example,
Doom 3 when it came out on PC was all good, had the video options and all that, and when it came out on the normal Xbox, it was configured or customised whatever you wanna call it, so it could be played at a good frame rate on the xbox it looked decent enough but nothing like the PC version lol, so there ya go man, later.
PS, the Xbox 360 and the PS3 looked so good because they are up to date with PC’s aswell, but PC’s are just in front as usual.
Basically Marz99, Consoles are computers that you dont have to worry about system requirements, later mate
apartently someone has the medieval 2 total war demo in pc gamer and has it now cheak this link http://p223.ezboard.com/fshoguntota…icID=4448.topic
Nighwolf so true about the ps3 V Xbox360
no this link http://p223.ezboard.com/fshoguntotalwarfrm55.showMessage?topicID=4448.topic
LOL thanx Noname
the ATI Radeon X1600PRO seems good for Gaming Performance and its cheap £109.99 u think its worth getting
Yeah its a decent video card man, but the higher the name doesnt mean its better than the older video cards, the X800 or X800GTO would run better in many ways, later
Cool thanx nightwolf (cheer)

and btw isnt the 7800gs better the superclocked and even stock from evga outranks this card but if i can get this for 50 bucks wow
ive lost money in ebay before so dont really like to buy stuff through it
Guys i’d hate to inform you of this but those of us with what seemed like moderate processors are in sh*t if we expect to play M2TW. I got the demo and it doesn’t work. I keep getting an error message. I read the read me and found out why.
“Celeron 1.5GHz Pentium 4® (1500MHz) or equivalent AMD®
processor. The processor must support SSE2
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2 ”
This means the following processor chips are NOT supported:
* AMD Athlon
* AMD Athlon XP / MP (This is the one i think many of us normal gamers own)
* AMD Duron
* AMD Sempron (Socket A versions)
* Intel Pentium II Xeon
* Intel Pentium III Xeon
* Intel Pentium II
* Intel Pentium III
* Intel Celeron (Slot 1, Socket 370)
* Intel Itanium
* Intel Itanium 2
* Via C3
* Transmeta Crusoe
* IDT Centaurs-Haul Winchip
* and any older CPUs
will Intel Pentium 4 support it
will a pentium 4 work reaper? how much ram u got reaper and what r ur specs? i might be able to help u
Well the game is almost out or at least the demo
I hope my specs are good for medium to high detail
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (2.0GHz)
GeForce 7600GS 256 mb 7600GS
2GB memory
250GB ATA hard drive
Dont worry Cunami, it should run smoothly on medium and maybe high
Man i just checked that web site for the demo and it said “error page may have recently been deleted”
Yep Phil P4 are OK which is part of the reason why so many of us Athlon XP owners are p*ssed off because basically their the same generation chips or equivalents.
Marcus the ‘official’ release of the demo hasn’t arrived. PC Gamer in the UK had an exclusive for the demo but as the subscribers to the magazine in the US get theirs early (due to potential shipping delays etc) they got the ‘exclusive’ early. You’ll find the demo on the torrent sites. Forget that heres the link:
http://www.torrentspy.com/torrent/876825/Medieval_2_Total_War_Demo_SE_exe
You can trust Tinkle. He’s a member on the TW site plus i’ve downloaded it and found no problems (But can’t play due to owning an Athlon XP!!!)
Well, wtf, I subscribe to PC Gamer, havn’t gotten this months yet though..and didn’t see it on the site..hmmm…I hope I get it ffs…
Reaper do you have the demo?
i dowloaded it and it appears as a data file what do you open it with
yea, that happend with me too It wanted you to save it first then when you open it, it is only a text file??
yea but i downloaded it again and it worked fine
Nevermind I figured it out, but reaper how long did it take for you to download it.
hey guys these are the minimum requirements for the demo MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

omfg i can’t believe it… i upgraded my whole fucking pc except processor for this shit… and i still can’t play it for fuck sake. why haven’t they just told us earlier that ur processor must support SSE2. its weird though… only the top tier of gamers will b able to run it now, and no one wouldve expected this shit to happen (that ur PROCESSOR has anything to do with it except speed)
Don’t tell me none of you have used torrents? Just download a program called ‘bitlord’ or ‘bittorrent’ and open the file in that. It should then start downloading from other users kind of like bearshare but safer. You can use this to download alot of stuff.
Time it takes to download depends. It took me 5 hours to download about 45% but then i switched off. I continued at 6am in the morning (UK Time) and it did the other 55% in less than 2 hours. I think it depends on internet traffic and such.
About the demo. There has been some talk that this was a 2 month old demo that was illegally obtained and that when CA release the official demo it will support Athlons. We should get the official demo within 1 or 2 weeks or maybe more. We’ll just have to wait and see.
ooooooooooooooo so u dont need that shit to play the game itself?
thank you god:D
bah no peers here… it just aint starting off
No just to download it. What do you mean no peers? There should be some seeds. Leave it for a while and see what happens. It may take a while or try later. OR you could try nad see if someone has uploaded it on another site to download directly.
I tried the demo eventhough I haven’t upgraded yet and it downloaded fine but I tried it and it didn’t work. But I had to try anyway, It was so addicting.
Nightwolf, did you get the Demo yet?? when you do you should let me know how it runs with the Radeon 9550 card…peace
so it will work for me Pentium 4, 256mb and ram idk u guys r having problems with urs will my work
This game is FUCKED up the arse.
I wish those buttsluts will hurry up and bring it out
And yes the ATi Radeon 9550 should work
the demo has the option to auto set the graphic options for your computer
you dont actually need a 128mb graphic card for the game to work
i had no problem installing the file, but the demo won’t run..i get some sort of error message..
my system spec: 1.8ghz, 512mb, 128mb Radeon 9550 with the latest drivers.
Has anyone else encountered similar problem ?
AppName: medieval2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.0 ModName: medieval2.exe
ModVer: 1.0.0.0 Offset: 008c1040
what type of processor have you got?
See. No one expects their processor to be the problem and they shouldn’t have to!
leprechaun, I had that same kind of problem, I went to run it the screen turned black and then an error message popped up, I think it may be that it is not the CA version it was taken or something
will it work with AMD sepron 3000. half gig of ram and 256mb Geforce 7600????????
I’ve downloaded the unofficial demo, an i’m totally disappointed.
Battles have an unbelievable slow pace even knocking down graphic details. I guess my x600 256MB video card is bottlenecking, but wtf the game should run smoothly anyway since i got a PIV 3.00 GHz with 2 GB ram.
I hope this major glitch will be fixed in the official demo (and game), otherwise Medieval 2 is most likely to be the biggest flop ever
I got the demo through PC Gamer and I Downloaded it, still no go.
specs: Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2ghz
1 Gig ram
Geforce 6600 256mb
I can run Rome total war on top settings just fine.
is this some anti AMD thing?
do AMD processor actually support the game?
NOT SUPPORTED:
* AMD Athlon
* AMD Athlon XP / MP (This is the one i think many of us normal gamers own)
* AMD Duron
* AMD Sempron (Socket A versions)
All other AMD’s should work.
Andy you talk about the battles being ’slow’. What do you mean by that? Glithing due to your card etc.?
When I bring up the installer it says that my processir is supported, which has me confused…will the game itself support the “older” AMD chips? anyone know why they chose not to support these processors? seems like they would be alienating a fair amount of gamers. grrrr.
Reaper i mean that to achieve a decent (and by decent i mean barely playable) framerate, with “units detail” set to high (setting it to low is just ludicrous, cos in such occurrence RTW units would look better than medieval2 units, you understand the paradox i guess) and a poor 2x antialiasing, i had to TURN OFF shadows, vegetation, and grass, plus reduce to low buildings details and whatsoever.
Even playing in this “safe mode” the gameplay is slow, to tell you the truth, i prefer way more playing RTW if turns out the official game’s graphics won’t be fixed. And why the fuck is it not working on AMDs?
The Total War guys seemed to forget that RTS players don’t have top notch computers as FPS maniacs do. Or maybe the jerks will provide X1900 cards in the package.
Screw them, i’m gonna play age of empires 2 tonight and ditch the M2 demo
I’ve downloaded the unofficial demo, an i’m totally disappointed.
Battles have an unbelievable slow pace even knocking down graphic details. I guess my x600 256MB video card is bottlenecking, but wtf the game should run smoothly anyway since i got a PIV 3.00 GHz with 2 GB ram.
I hope this major glitch will be fixed in the official demo (and game), otherwise Medieval 2 is most likely to be the biggest flop ever
mate who are you to say that with ur x600 shit card… buy a better one and you’ll see how it runs
(this game is gonna suck the battles are way too chaotic, there’s no time to post ur units well and see what ur gonna do its just clicking everywhere and attacking with eyes closed)
top notch computers??? lol
u think a x600 is average gamer pc?? m8 top notch computers have 7900GTX and normal ones have geforce 6/7 series or radeon x800 or higher… x600 is NOT average, it’s LOW and ones higher than yours are NOT top notch…ffs
ur computer is good except the video card.. you have a much better pc than i have except the video card.
and guess what’s causing the trouble… ur fucking video card… man are u dumb just buy a new one and it will look nicer than anything that has ever looked nice before
and no the game should not run smoothly cs of ur high ram and processor… even if u had a 10 ghz processor and a million gb’s of RAM you would still have the same problems
i got the same specs as asm and it dont work for me, i suppose we will have to wait for the “official” demo…
i mean sdm
Dudes, were all forgetting to look at the requirements, those are MINIMUM requirements which means you will be able to run the program, in other words if you go any lower than that your computer will not run it. If you want to play it decently you got to get alot better specs.
Hey also at http://www.totalwar.com they say they have their demo out and they give you links
and heres a site where you can watch the actuall demo…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_pRrMZVow8&mode=related&search=
Goodspeed, you idiot, i already mentioned thay i have a notebook, not a desktop.
How the heck am i supposed to replace the video card.
Will it work on AMD sepron 3000???? anyone know???
i dont think the AMD Sepron is supported
i was wondering what the system requirements are for medievil total war 2. i am wondering this because when i tryied to install rome total war alexander it said you must have patched to 1.5/1.6.
can some plz tell me what i am to do to install rome total war alexander and what the system requirements are for medievil total war 2.
Patch your RTW to 1.6
GODSPEED WROTE:
“This game is gonna suck the battles are way too chaotic, there’s no time to post ur units well and see what ur gonna do its just clicking everywhere and attacking with eyes closed)”
Mate you might be suprised to hear this but that is exactly how many of us at the official TW forums want it to be. Many of us want the chaos. In the midst of battle you have to make the quick and right decision. This will add a little challenge that many of us will savour.
What do you mean by post your units? There is a battle deployment phase but then again the battles in the demo are ‘historical battles’ and in RTW you couldn’t deploy in them as they were meant to reflect historical events/situations.
i know i need to do that, but plz can you tell me how i really want to play the alexander add-on thanks mate.
i really do not have a clue how i am suposed to patch to 1.5/1.6. i have barbarian invasion and that works fine. i dont even know what ‘patched’ is. plz i really want to play. i know im moaning but i do want to pplay rome total war alexander.
can some one plz tell me how i get patched 1.5/1.6
Here you go mate. This should help you.

man i only have enough money for a radeon 9550 and I wanted a x800xt all in wonder if any one knows any better cards for around 100 bucks they should defenetly let me know
Any hopes of a more comaptible demo being released?
hey nightwolf, is a radeon x700 card any good?? is it better than the 9550
man i only have enough money for a radeon 9550 and I wanted a x800xt all in wonder if any one knows any better cards for around 100 bucks they should defenetly let me know :)
Well MAarcus it depends what system you got. Are you going to upgrade to PCI-E? If so this is the card for you.
http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=45DW&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=7600&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0
I personally own a Radeon 9200se and am currently saving up to upgrade to this baby. The only problems is i have to replace most of my system to work it. A new motherboard is required but i’m thinking of keeping my Athlon 2800 processor for the time being.
One other good thing about this card is that it is SLI compatible meaning that if you buy a SLI motherboard you will be able to run two of them simultaneously whih is what i intend to do overtime. It FAR outclassess the AGP cards.
My advice to you is upgrade to PCI-E/SLI. You can a decent motherboard for about £80 which isn’t that much. It also means you won’t have to upgrade later when most games become PCI-E only which isn’t too far off.
What i mean by my previous post is stick with your old card and keep saving up. With about £150 you will be able to get a MUCH better system that will last MUCH longer. I am sure the AGP cards will become surplus to requirements so theres no point wasting your money on them. Even if you don’t have enbough to buy the card i recommended you can get other PCI-E cards for less.
reaper, mate never had a cle what to do on that site. i no this site os for medievil total war 2, but im really worried that if i cant patch to 1.5/1.6 i will not be able to play medievli total war 2. and i still cant play rome total war alexander
that site confused me reaper. thanks for your help mate but i really need to patch to 1.5/1.6 plz some1 tell me how i can do this.
Jesus. This is going to take some time if you can’t understand that. OK what version of RTW have you currently got installed? To find out start up the game, go to options and it should say in the top right hand corner.
First find that out then we’ll continue.
Why is AMD’s not supported. i thought it was only (A Versions) mine is only new. Sepron 3000. will this work. Any1 know??????
well that’s too bad andy :S i guess that’s not the game’s fault that u have a notebook so plz don’t get mad at them :S
reaper if u really wánt the chaos then please buy games that are meant for chaos and not REAL TIME STRATEGY games. STRATEGY, not chaos, those two words are eachother’s opposites.
quick decisions my ass, ur “quick decisions” is just rushing in and hoping u’ll win, cavalry have the same effect when they come from the back as from the front (just like in rome in which the tactics were already fucked up) so why would you rear or flank sum1, it’s just storming in and hoping u have the right units. u should buy MTW(1) then u’ll know what a REAL TIME STRATEGY game is about… :S
(also units rout way too fast… is it realistic that when a complete army is fighting one unit, that one unit of the complete army routs cs there are 4 men left of that unit (why would it rout then it has 1000 men on it’s back to help) which causes a mass rout and the one unit wins… units rout too fast and general’s death causes too much panic…
will AMD SEPRON 3000 work with MTW2??? any1 know??? plz reply
yea well I got an AGP 4x and the computer is the family computer so I cant mess with it to much, but upgrading to a PCI-E is a good idea. So for right now I got to just get a card that will work for my computer for now and then hopefully in the next year or so I can just buy a new computer or upgrade motherboards…plus I dont know how to put in a new motherboard.
agp 4x? then i think the rest of ur PC is pretty fucked up too, so u better buy a whole new motherboard and upgrade everything… or just buy a new pc
Sorry Godspeed I think I misunderstood your post. I thought you were complaining about you not having time to sit back, have a sip of tea and plan a battle but you seem to have meant a more moderate kind of ‘planning’. Remember I haven’t played the demo so can’t comment. If you have played and liked MTW then you know what I and many others are looking for. We want something reasonably the same but if that can’t be arranged we want something better than RTW.
But like I said remember the battles in the demo are historical battles! If you have played RTW then you will know that they don’t allow you to plan but put you into the heat of the battle as it was back then. This is so you are in the same situation as the commanders of past and to see if you react the same. The enemy troops are also pre-programmed to do certain things that the real troops did back in history. So as you can see that would limit the tactical side.
However I do note your fears and we can only hope the retail release will be improved.
yep but i don’t think it will improve
MTW’s strategy was good, rome’s strategy was average, and this one will be nothing. o and nevermind the shit i wrote about setting up ur units, it’s all about the chaos, when the battle started you only click everywhere you can and hope you win. it’s even best to just do nothing and let the ai fuck up his forces (like storming in your spearmen with his king), that’s a minus for the game too, the SHITTY ai, though that wasn’t better in mtw1, not that i ever played against ai
Hmmm i see what your getting at. This demo is thought to be over two months old so maybe they will improve stuff for the official one.
mmmmwa
Well here are my specs:
Pentium 4 2.53ghz
1 gig of RAM
8x speed 9.4 GB CD-ROM player
my Graphics card now is shit(Intel Extreme Card) but can’t I get a grahics card that is 8x/4x compatible??
u mean 8x/4x AGP? of course you can… i’d say nvidia geforce 7600GS, that’s the best AGP card for the money (€130)
OFFIIAL NEWS:
As mentioned in the developer blogs the demo is a pre-beta build and since then the game has had over 2 months of polish and optimization. I am happy to inform you that:
• SSE2 is only required for the demo, the release version of the game will only require SSE.
• Most of the issues with the Athlon XP processor were fixed for the release version of the game, the single player game works fine but there are a few residual issues with multiplayer and as such we can’t officially support it.
• Regarding frame rate, considering there has been over 2 months of work on game optimization I think it’s safe to assume the frame rate in the release game will be better than the one seen in the demo.
I will be sure to keep up to date with the demo chat and try and address any additional issues requiring clarification.
Jason
F*CK what does he mean with “the single player game works fine but there are a few residual issues with multiplayer and as such we can’t officially support it.”
so athlon XP will not support multiplayer version?? FFS FFS FFS
Exactly and it has got me worried. Especially the fact that he said we cant officialy support it rather tha were working to fix it.
hmnm reaper true what u said but i have a socket 478 mobo so i would have to upgrade mobo and processor onthing good on 478 i wanred to switch to a mobo wiht socket 940 and get a sepron and oc the hell out of it but sempreons are expensive so is the mobo so it would be less to buy a Graphics Card than a new mobo/ cpu
if thts the case wht mobo and sempron processor do u reccomend
also still cant make my mind up about a card i have agp slot 4x/8x
wht do u recommend iw as looking at the x800xt but the 7800gs can match it if not beat it and its less i think
and wht if i upgrade to pci e its to many possiblited
wht do u reccoment
WHAT THE FUC* the fucking demo dosnt work idk y it dosent i installed it i clicked on the shortcut and it said unspecific error medival 2 demo se will now exit. WTF thats so gay. somebody tell me whats wrong
kalel the 7800GS beats x800xt, but it also costs more so… both cards are very decent and will cost u 200 for x800xt/250 for 7800GS i think, i wouldn’t know which one to choose.
about upgrading to pci-e, that means upgrading ur motherboard, and that’s pretty expensive too, like €150 for a good one. that’s not necessary to get a good video card.. i’m not sure if they got 7800GS in AGP version, but i really recommend 7600GS which they dó have in AGP version, is less expensive and is decent too (on the “best video cards for the money” it was qualified as best AGP card for €130).
of course, when you have the money, go for the x800xt which they also have in AGP (don’t they?).
and if ur thinking to upgrade ánd ur cpu, ánd ur mobo (which means you have to upgrade memory as well, if ur new mobo has different DDR version), ánd ur video card, you are actually buying a new pc… they got some really good pc’s for like €1200 (but u get new sound card, cd rom drive and stuff with that too), and upgrading everything will cost you near €1000 (if u go on the high end way) so that’s ur choice (i’d choose upgrading, buying all parts loose will spare u 50% of the cost comparing with it all together)
phil, the demo is probably not working because of your crappy video card or RAM shortage, cs those two just don’t meet the minimum requirements… it can’t be ur processor.
this is probably dumb, will this work on my NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 (64Mb VRAM)? I can play Rome but I don’t know if this will work with my trashy computer
hey guys the requirements have already been released if you havent already known. Great Demo. It’s pretty smooth on my computer. should be fine for most ppl.
desert fox what are your other specs… the video card is o.k. for lowest settings but other specs could fuck it up
how much for video card thats compatiblefor medieval 2? ( American Currency? )
herald, what are your specs???
You know whats dumb, this world hahahaha

hey every1, here are my specs:
AMD Sepron 3000 ~1.80
256Mb Geforce 7600 PCI EXP
512Mb Ram
Will this handle the game? anyone know? plz reply to me. thanks
its probably the proccesor you have
NOT SUPPORTED:
* AMD Athlon
* AMD Athlon XP / MP (This is the one i think many of us normal gamers own)
* AMD Duron
* AMD Sempron (Socket A versions)
All other AMD’s should work.
Andy you talk about the battles being ’slow’. What do you mean by that? Glithing due to your card etc.?
Hey guys,
I’ve got:
AMD Athlon 2600+ 2.13Ghz
512mb DDR ram
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT - 256mb AGP8x
How well do you think my pc will be able to run MTW2? Hopefully at least decently? any feedback would be great, thanks.
shadowsfall your pc should be able to run it on low settings, but not at least decently i’m afraid, you will need to upgrade everything just as i did, except ur processor, unless you have alot of money. i upgraded video card and memory for €200, but i still have my old shitty processor (Athlon XP 1.7 Ghz). i suggest you do the same, but when you do have alot of money just buy a new pc:)
and ICE ur pc should run it on medium settings but not smoothly. ur video card and processor are good, but some extra RAM is needed i think. will cost you only 70 euros for an extra gig
Demo runs well wih 2.0 gb ram 2.0 ghz core duo and 7900 gs on high settings. I think that’s the limit, because it wasn’t perfectly smooth. With anything less, you’ll have to turn down the settings.
been reading this thread…sounds like a lot of speculation going on.
took this off play.com, supplied to them by manufacturer

thx goodspeed. will do. another gig b ok then?
yeah,, then it should run on at least medium
Athlon 64 3400+
1 GB RAM
Radeon 9800 256Mb Pro
I can play it smooth with everything on medium but no better, please say it’s gonna be optimised for the real game otherwise it’s gonna be an expensive upgrade for one game.
reaper i got barabarian invasion woking finaly lol
u should have just got the gold edition
fire inside that’s cs u have shitty video card… i’m surprised it runs on medium… then i should b able to run it on high :D:D
cheers goodspeed. its about 80 pounds over here 4 a gig of RAM lol.
i have got intel pentium 7 im wondering could i play mtw 2 on it. cud sum1 reply plz toof
i have geforce 4000000 nn its a 574790mb ndi have 18 gb of ram cud i play the game on it.sum1 reply plz toof
You want a good non expensive video card, go for the X800GTO or the PRO, it kicks arse, i bought one today and it plays most of my games at high settings, im including Quake 4 aswell and that f**king game is very hungry for system requirements and it runs smoothly, it ran at 45fps and that was on high quality, thats pretty damn good considering i have only a athlon XP 2100+ and 512MB ram, lol i think this video is doing all the work, down side to this video card is that it doesnt come with shader model 3.0, it sucks but its a good video card and is still classed as a DirectX 9 video card, comes with HDR support too, later dudes
toof thats a shit system you got there man HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Nightwolf have you tried mtw2 demo with that card yet and is yours the pro or GT
hey also, what is the difference between x800 xt all in wonder & the GTO
I havent tried the demo yet, and my card is the X800PRO/GTO and the difference between the X800 XT and the GTO is that the XT is better, slighty better, i think it has four more pixel pipe lines, and a little more GPU speed aswell as Memory too, later
hey!! anyone know any recent PC games worth buying as i need a new game and dnt know wat to get. plz repl! thx!!!1
how bout i break ur computer nightwolf
I don´t know why are you so worried about M2TW,on the specs stuff.I saw an
reply at their official site where it said ´If Rome TW worked on your pc then M2 Total War will work aswell as Rome´.So stop worring.
someone.. that’s bullshit it won’t work as well as rome, not even close to it, why do you think the specs have doubled?
but i hope ur right :\ cs i will be able to run everything on highest then as i do in rome (forget it)
toof u can play it on lowest settings but if u want decent settings u’d better buy a new pc… upgrading that shit is the same as buying a new one.. they have good pc’s for only €1, of which the specs are: nvidia geforce0,1 2mb, 1mb pc0 ddr0,001 RAM (however the pc lacks a processor, soundcard, and motherboard)
ZZZzzzzZzzZzZzZZZzzzzzzZZZzzzzZZZZzzZzZzzz
You can try, then I’ll break your fucken jaw
what if that’s already broken?
someone.. that’s bullshit it won’t work as well as rome, not even close to it, why do you think the specs have doubled?

No,thats not bullshit.I got the demo(M2TW) and i have put the same settings as in rometw and it worked aswell as rome.Furthermore one of the team designers also said that you don´t need a monster PC to play M2TW.
I have a Celeron 2.4GHz Pentium 4®,512mb RAM,ATI RADEON 9200 256mb, 80GB HDD,and rometw works very good on this options(RTW):
Resolution 1280×720 (both Campaign and Battle)
Unit scale:Huge scale
Effects Deatil:High
Shadows:none
Shaders:Yes
Campaign Shadows:No
Desyncronise:No
Unit Detail:High
Building Detail:Lowest(Beacause lowest or Highest it looks almost identical, and at highest it eats more processor time)
Vegetation Detail:Medium
Grass Detail:None(Because i dont need any fucking grass to eat more processor time)
So you see´goodspeed´you dont need MONSTER PC´s to run good games.
I have a laptop, a toshiba p100 satellite pro. I downloaded the demo and noticed it was lagging quite a bit. I “auto detected” the settings and on medium settings it recommended high for virtually everything. I play the game and it just isn’t smooth at all. When i put the settings on very low manually it does run smooth. My specs are:
Intel Centrino Duo Core T2500 @ 2.01GHZ
2×512mb ddr2 (667mhz) [1GB] ram
cd read (24x) dvd read (8x)
NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7300 Graphics with dedicated 256MB DDR Video memory, PCI Express 16x
I really don’t wanna have to play this game on “low” settings. I know it is only the demo and the final product will probably run smoother than the demo but if someone could tell me what is in need of upgrade here I’d appreciate it very much. Total War is like my favourite game ever I love them and I want this one too!!!! Please help thanks again.
i didn’t say u do need a monster pc to run the game, urs should be able to run it…
what i said, is that it will not work the same as rtw,, and when you say it does, ur stupid..
by “working the same” u mean no glitches and everything goes smoothly.. no wonder with those settings (no shadows? no grass?)
try putting those settings up and up till mtw2 starts glitching and rome won’t
i can run rometw with everything on higest, unit scale huge, res 1280×1024
with athlon xp 1.8 ghz, 1280 mb RAM, 7600GS 256mb, and i’m surer than sure that i can’t do that with mtw2
like goodspeed said BULL FUCKING SHIT rome works perfect and i installed the med. 2 demo and it comes up and says unspecific error med. 2 se etc. will now exit
does anyone know if the game supports AMD Sepron 3000??? Please reply. thx!
Ya, I know it wont run the same as RTW …but I know its not like your gonna have to go out and buy a 300 dollar proccesor just to run it smooth, its a new game, its better, obviously there gonna step up the specs a little bit like they always do. And I think were gonna just have to ditch the demo for right now because it doesnt work for anyones computer, its not reliable. But if it does work for anyone they should let us all know where they got it so everyone elso can too.
Tonyn87, the reason why its lagging dude, its right in front of you, your laptop is a good start for this game, especially your processor and ram, but the video card you got there man is shit, its a low budget card and its only 64bit, if you dont know what that means, it means its crap, if can upgrade your laptop go with at least the 7600 series or higher, nothing lower and you should see performance going up, later
i didn’t say u do need a monster pc to run the game, urs should be able to run it…

Well as far as i´m concerned those options (shadows, grass) are not necessary. And by ´If Rome TW WORKED on your pc then M2 Total War will work ASWELL as Rome´ i meant that you can install the game(m2tw)and it will work. And then i said ´I got the demo(M2TW) and i have put the same settings as in rometw and it worked aswell as rome´ and by that i meant that the m2tw specs are very similar(aproximatively) as rtw.
no of course they aint necessary.. is high unit detail necessary? no..
nothing is necessary. without shadows and grass it just looks shit..
and u said “if rtw works mtw2 works”.. non sense mtw2 requirers more than rtw, if ur pc doesn’t meet the requirements of rtw, but it runs, mtw2 won’t work (u need shader accelleration on video card and a monitor that can at least show 1024×768 res..) u didnt need that for rome
would sum1 plz convince him i just don’t seem to succeed :S
Alright, have it your way.I´m tired of this subject.
Me Too, can we chat about other games instead of this one
nightwolf, thanks alot for giving me a reality check. I had a feeling it was completely the video card and now im royally screwed because its non upgradeable, integrated shit. Well whatever I’ll be buying this game dicking around with the settings to make it run as smooth as possible. Thanks again for the help.
No worries Tonyn87, it does suck it cant be upgraded, thats the thing hate bout laptops (intergrated shit), the only thing i can think of is nothing, but if you got lots of money build your own desktop computer man, and dont go to shitty Dell computers or packard bell, Hp and all that crap they suck, go to a computer store and chose the parts you want man, thats all i can think of, later mate.
Ps. dont bother upgrading your laptop with more ram, it wont doo shit.
Has anyone tries out the battlefield 2142 demo yet, if so reply please, just wanna know if it a decent game to play, laters
im gonna kil use cunts cos u nva fuk up bout computers goodspeed nd nightwolf
Could someone tell me in M2TW something like, what purpose does prisoners serve,i mean after a battle you should check the statistics and look there and you will see wounded, killed, lost and prisoners. If someone could tell me what purpose does ´Prisoners´ serve.
i think they can be ransomed, so brings money
Yeah, thats a good idea.Or maybe they will be put inside settlements to increase population depending on the number o prisoners.
Yeah, thats a good idea.Or maybe they will be put inside settlements to increase population depending on the number of prisoners.
Wouldn´t it be a great idea if you could capture the king and than ransom him :).And i think we all now what ransom you/we could ask for him.:))
their death does great morale damage and most of the time results in several civil wars…
it’s the same as ransoming bin laden
ye but then put all the dead bodies in settlements to increase pop.. will do no good to the public order tho due to terrible smells
(lol)
im gonna kil use cunts cos u nva fuk up bout computers goodspeed nd nightwolf
hmmm, but i protected it… when u touch it, a robotarm will grab ur passport and scan it, then check where u live and then a signal will go to my robot-bomber, which will fly to ur city and throw an a-bomb on it. then a hell of alot more than just a pc is destroyed :):)
i mean when u touch my computer..lol
o and by the way… 10 knives will be coming your way then too.. cs destroying ur city and not killing u is a shame of course..
Man im sorry to keep talking bout this game, but I got one more question…I found the x800 pro online for 99 dollars, but the x800 xt is at least 80 dollars more, Nightwolf you said that the xt is slightly better but the PRO can run Quake 4. so I guess what Im trying to say is what do you think are the highest specs you will be able to play M2TW with the PRO and what about the XT?…Cuz I ordered the XT from dell for only $160 but when I checked the order status it said that the ship date wasn’t until April 13!! And Im not waiting that long. And I cant find that card anywhere else everyones sold out. So I may just have to cancell that and go for the PRO. :/
Hey Marcus2, yeah its true man the PRO, i run Quake 4 on high settings with shadows and everything else on except anti aliasing dont need it on, but umm the XT is better in performance but if you arent big on cash just go with the PRO man, it does the job good, but one thing I wanna tell ya it is a DirectX 9 hardware card but it doesnt come with shader model 3.0, thats the downfall to it but everything else is good, but dont forget that Nvidia has the Geforce 6600GT and the 6800GT aswell there a good and perform around the same as the X800 series but they come with shader model 3.0, sometimes they are better than the X800 series and then the X800 series perfroms better than them, depends what game ya playing, the X800 series is better when it comes to high resolution and anti alasing but the Geforce 6600GT and 6800GT series perfrom better at games with shader model 3.0, the nvidia logo and games with high shadow detail, so there ya go man oh yeah and umm check ebay man, they should have a shit load of good stuff there, if you need help on making an account just ask its all good, later
PS. Toof kiss my arse you fuckhead cock licker before i break your fucking jaw
Oh yeah Marcus2, forgot to tell you just go with the X800PRo or the ^800GT cards k, if you dont have alot of cash, later

PLEASE tell me if i have missed anything out that i may need to upgrade in order to use these components.
Thanks
Oh and in reply to the guy who seems certain that the specifications for M2TW are similar to those for RTW. They are not. The developers personally stated that if you can just about run RTW on full settings without any glitches/freezes etc. then you will only be able to run M2TW on medium settings.
The specifications for the new game are going to be alot higher. Maybe the demo has been toned down graphic wise which is why you get good results or maybe you have a very good graphics card/processor.
Hey Reaper, I looked at the parts you posted and I think you have a good idea of what to buy man, everything seems all good especailly your processor, the ram and video card is a decent start, and the hard drive you chose is a good one too man and the motherboard too, so its all good man, laters.
PS. when buying ram man, always go with Corsair brand memory, they kick arse.
na go for kingston hyperX
i am wondering could i play football manager on a 6gb ram nd an intel pentium 9 that i stole from my skool. does any1 no? reply plz
Well I don’t want to spend too much on RAM but we’ll see.
That said I just remembered something. Those of you who are going to upgrade motherboards try to avoid the ones with socket 939 as my friend informs me that those types of processor have been abandoned by AMD. This means they will become difficult to get hold of and will not progress in new designs etc.
So when you decide to upgrade your processor again in the future you may find yourself having to buy a brand new motherboard.
Oh and one more thing. Does anyone know if this card is SLI compatible (can run 2) because i may buy this one instead.

Thanks
Uhhm. Ignore my last post. I think i have a reading disability. It says SLI in the first line.

deffinately not
Hey…It just came to my attention that most graphics cards require 300 watt power supply and I only have a 200 watt power supply does that mean that Im going to have to upgrade that? or should it be able to run anyways…Also I found out that I have an AGP 4X and three PCI slots so I can run Either kind right??
People listen up!
Sega have released an update M2TW demo which supports Athlon Xp’s etc. The only problem is its an exclusive for those who preordered. However if you follow this link and read the very first post you will find the username and password required to download the demo from the sega website. The link is there too.
Don’t forget to sign up and thank Stig because he hardly ever gets anything right. The only down side is if you can’t run this demo then you probably won’t be able to run the full game and so need an upgrade.

Enjoy.

ba ha ha toof ur computer is gay
What language was that!?! Kind of like a cross betwen a goat and a puff!
reaper, you have a 9200 card…how many watts is your power supply. and what specs did you run your demo on?
My power supply i don’t know (maybe 200W like you) but i’m getting a 600W with my upgrade.
I ran the demo on a
Radeon 9200
Athlon 2800XP
512MB RAM
I am running the demo on these settings (could go higher i think):
Resolution: 1024 by 768
No Anti-Aliasing
Texture Filtering: Trillinear
VSYNC On
Unit Detail: Medium or High
Texture Quality: Medium or High (Get very slight lag sometimes when this and above high)
Vegetation: Medium
Grass/Building/Effects/: Low
I haven’t experimented with anything but unit detail/ Texture quality so i may be able to up other things. They have really optimized the engine so lower ender cards can get all they can get out of the game. The game looks Brilliant!
sounds good! thats surprising that you can run that high of details with that kind of card. And I guess cuz I got the 200 watt power supply Im gonna get the radeon 9550 cuz anything higher requires a 300 watt supply.
Since alot of people are upgrading and its taking their money away, is anyone gonna be able to purchase the game, laters
oh yes nightwolf, mines already pre-ordered. has anyone played the demo yet, the terrain is like none
of the other total war series, this medieval 2 really lives up to its reputation - and more, not long
to wait for the reall thing here in the UK, l8trs
yea thats a good point, im gonna have to save up a little more to actually get the game, so until then Im gonna just play alot of Barbarian Invasion and the Demo. I just have to wait it out.
do you think i could run MTW2
here are my computers stuff:
AMD Athlon 64×2 3800+ 2.0GHz
1GB of RAM
256MB NVIDIA Geforce 7600GS pci-e
250GB hard drive
windows xp media center edition 2005
350watt power supply
please reply, thanks
you’ll have no trouble at all
medium/high settings i think
oh and does anyone know what this means:
2 processors running at 2.0GHz with a performance rating of 5.70GHz. thanks
and if you want to know about any games to see how good your computer can run, go here-www.systemrequirementslab.com, then click “can you run it” then pick a game, then it will show on a bar up top and under neath will show what is needed and what you have. but, downloading screen pops up and is required. just it says that you will allow it to go look at your info. nothing to harm your system
Stevo, its means you got an excellent processor there, is AMD or Intel
its an AMD Athlon 64×2(dual-core) 3800+, but i really dont understand the performance rated at 5.70GHz when i only got 2.0GHz…. oh and my computer, i got all that for only 800$ lol, when i went to another store, customizing the exact same thing wuld cost 1200$, i play oblivion, age of empires 3, lord of the rings battle for middle earth 1&2 the sims 2(such an addicting game) and good old starcraft, no problems whatsoever on running highest qualities, except for oblivion, something i dont understand there, i play it and sometimes lags….but other than that everything is great.
Man I just got my 9550 card and it says to get latest mother board drivers and My motherboard is a MSI MS 6577 and I cant find anything on it any where…does anyone know whats up??
Hey stevo, its comparing it agaisnt a pentium 4 speed, so if that 3800 X2 64 was a pentium 4, it would run at 5.70ghz, but they dont make shitty pentium 4’s anymore cause they suck, expensive, over heating and their performance arent good enough so you got a good processor man, it has 2 cores running at 2.0ghz each and its performance is rated at 5.70ghz, i hoped that helped you out a bit, and the reason why Oblivion is lagging cause its a demanding bullshit game, it eats your computer like a bitch, lol meaning your video card isnt powerful enough, a 7800gs would do the job but dont bother buying any video cards now, wait for the new DirectX 10 ones, like the 8800GTX or 8800GTS, i saw the specs on them, and WOW! excellent specs but its up to you man, but maybe if you got the money if you want, go buy an extra gig of ram, that would improve performance a bit more, loading times will be faster and having more ram lets you run more things in games aswell, and go with Corsair, they rulez, peace out
Marcus2, check the MSI website
oh ok thanks, i do have the extra money for it, im only 14 lol, i got a job that bought me this computer and stuff, but i was planning on getting a 1GB ram chip, just need another week. but thanks again, that question really bothered me. sadly i did have to buy that video card because this thing use to have a low ATI Express 200 series 128MB shared, which didnt do to good, so i went out and bought the 7600GS, it was on sale for origonal price 159$ sale price was 103$
ouch…….found out how much thats gonna cost me, the 8800GTS is pricing from 400-500$
I’m going to be getting my M2TW from sendit who are charging their average prices of £18 with free P&P. Not advertising or anything but it’s a good place for all the games they sell though they do only have a limited selection.
http://www.sendit.com/game/item/6000000003586
Right, I don’t know much about computers. (To you lot, that probably means I know nothing at all)
But All I know is that I have a Dimension 4400 Dell PC (it seems…) and I really don’t know that it is that great of a computer, however, I was wondering if it is at all within the system requirements for M2TW?
Guys, I’m really sorry about this, but, after more than 400 comments (!), I’ll have to close the comments for this post.
In those more than 400 comments, the answer to any MTW2 hardware requirements question should have been answered.
If not, check out the official site. If the requirements aren’t listed, they have a forum there, where you can ask a much larger community about them.
Again, sorry about having to close this discussion, but it’s been hell on my bandwidth.
Hope you find the rest of the blog interesting
